About The Position

Torrent Technologies is seeking an Underwriter to join its Underwriting team. The role is based in Kalispell or may be performed remotely nationwide. The Underwriter works under the supervision of the Underwriting Manager, reviewing and analyzing quotations while servicing an existing book of business. The role involves underwriting new submissions, managing policy transactions and issuance, reviewing underwriting documentation, and supporting agents through multiple service channels while meeting production KPIs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of insurance underwriting or recent flood insurance experience.
Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Basic to intermediate technical proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of underwriting experience with an ANFI designation.
Knowledge of flood insurance practices, underwriting methodologies, and insurance procedures and policies.
Strong time management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Underwrite new submissions to ensure policies are correct and comply with guidelines.
Process endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements; handle billing issues; and complete policy issuance.
Review underwriting information, including applications, photographs, elevation certificates, and third-party internet resources, to accurately underwrite policies.
Provide customer service to agents by phone, online chat, and email, meeting production KPIs defined by leadership.
Deescalate difficult customer situations and resolve them completely.
Participate in group activities, including daily huddles, team meetings, and training opportunities.
