About The Position

Olympus Insurance Company is seeking to fill multiple levels of Underwriter positions within their Personal Lines Underwriting team. This role involves delivering thoughtful solutions and exceptional service to agency partners and policyholders. The position offers opportunities for individuals at various experience levels, from those building their insurance careers to seasoned professionals. Responsibilities include evaluating risks, solving problems, building strong partnerships, and making decisions that support customers and the business. Requirements

  • Experience in Personal Lines underwriting, insurance, agency operations, or a related field; the level of the position will be based on your experience and underwriting knowledge.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative, service-focused approach and an interest in building positive relationships with agency partners and teammates.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thoughtful problem-solving skills and the ability to use sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred.
  • Property & Casualty license and/or insurance designations are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review new business, renewals, inspections, quote exceptions, and policy changes for eligibility, appropriate rating, and alignment with underwriting guidelines.
  • Evaluate risk information and claims activity to make informed underwriting decisions within your level of authority.
  • Provide responsive, solutions-focused support to agency partners and clearly communicate underwriting decisions.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Claims, and other teams to resolve policy questions and support shared business goals.
  • Process underwriting transactions accurately and efficiently while maintaining strong service and documentation standards.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve processes and the experience provided to agency partners.
  • Continue developing underwriting knowledge and take on greater authority and complexity as experience grows.
  • At more experienced levels, evaluate complex risks and provide guidance, training, and mentorship to teammates.
