About The Position

Zurich E&S is looking to hire an E&S Property Underwriter for their Property team in Chicago, New York, or Atlanta. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing flexibility in scheduling while partnering with a manager. The position requires market visibility to meet with agents and brokers, with an expectation of being in the office/market three days per week. The E&S Property Underwriter will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business under limited supervision, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels. The role focuses on moderate technical complexity, ensuring high-level service to customers and driving growth with a focus on profitability through partnerships with national wholesalers. This role can be filled at either the Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist level, determined by the applicant's experience and skill set.

Requirements

Underwriter – Zurich E&S Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
AND Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
Experience with Microsoft Office
Underwriting Specialist – Zurich E&S Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
AND Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
Experience with Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree with 1 or more years of experience in Underwriting with emphasis on E&S Property Underwriting or Underwriting Support
Strong negotiation skills and wholesale broker relationships nationwide
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office skills

Responsibilities

Serving as a customer industry advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end to end solution for their insurance needs.
Using a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment and pricing.
Using risk insights, data, and models to drive informed decisions at point of sale.
Market facing and production within the E&S Standard Property group.
Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules.
Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.
