About The Position

Northern Star (Pogo) LLC has an opportunity for an Underground Miner - Mucker Operator at their Pogo operation in Alaska. This role involves operating underground equipment and performing various mining tasks, including loading UG Haul trucks, mucking face rounds, and assisting in road work. Other duties may include operating Haul Trucks, Nipper, Powder Crew & Rockpick. The role requires adherence to safety policies and MSHA requirements, and may involve fault finding, preventative maintenance, and assessing ground conditions.

Requirements

  • Experience in underground hard rock mining techniques.
  • 3 years minimum experience operating underground loaders/muckers REQUIRED.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Good communication skills, including ability to read and speak English.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • Must have good comprehension of safe operating procedures, safety rules, policies, emergency procedures, and MSHA requirements.
  • Must pass a post offer physical and drug test, as well as a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating underground remote muckers.
  • Ability to provide leadership and training to new team members.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct post-blast inspections and wash down all headings prior to commencing work.
  • Muck development headings to standard.
  • Perform clean-up following a blast and maintain the condition of all roads underground.
  • Production mucking, including tele-remote, from stopes to muck bay.
  • Load haul trucks.
  • Accurate recording of haulage movement.
  • Working as directed to minimize equipment down-time and maximize productivity.
  • Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements including Hazard ID's, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.
  • Assist with fault finding and preventative maintenance.
  • Assessing and monitoring of ground conditions.
  • Perform such other duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor.
