We are currently seeking Underground Mine Beginners for Future Opportunities to join our Mines Operation Team in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position. Relocation to Thompson, Manitoba will be required. As an Underground Mine Beginner you will report to the Underground Mine Operations Supervisor, and with your experience and skills you may perform support, production and/or development functions in the Underground Mining Operation. Additionally in this position you will:

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalency is required.
  • 6 months of progressive underground mining experience using mechanized equipment
  • Demonstrate a concern for Safety, Health, Environment and Risk and knowledge of safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong ability to work cooperatively within a team environment and be able to receive or provide open feedback to co-workers.
  • Ability to recognize hazards within an industrial workplace, understanding your role and accountability in assessing & managing risk.
  • Demonstrate initiative, follow instruction, and perform duties that will benefit the whole organization’s success.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Scoops, Maclean Bolters, Anfo Loaders and Jumbo Drills in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Support Shaft and Logistics which include Belt Picking, Crusher Operations, road maintenance, supply handling, mine shaft activities, Hoist Operation, etc.
  • Operate ITH Drills and Raise Bore Drills in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Read and interpret mine development layouts.
  • Perform blasting activities to advance mining drifts.
  • Construct ventilation, backfill barricades, shotcrete work, railway maintenance and install steel or concrete installations and advance and maintain compressed air, process water and sandfill services.
