About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, the Underground Foreman supports all phases of utility construction for various types of telecommunications projects. The role involves building, repairing, and maintaining construction projects; troubleshooting issues in the field; training crew members on tools and equipment; operating construction machinery; and managing all aspects of job-site construction. The work takes place at outdoor utility construction sites and emphasizes safety, quality, teamwork, and coaching and mentoring the crew. The position pays $35–$38 per hour.

Requirements

• Prior knowledge of the telecommunications construction industry, including coax splicing, fiber splicing, directional drilling, and aerial and underground construction.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for driving purposes.
• Must meet company standards for a safe driving record; applicants are subject to an MVR review.
• Safety-minded approach and a track record of completing work to a high level of quality.
• Ability to troubleshoot difficult problems and take a hands-on approach to work.
• Willingness to work outdoors and get hands-on with the team.

Nice To Haves

• CDL preferred.
• MOS Codes 12H, 3E251, 3E271, and 4305 relate well to this position.

Responsibilities

• Support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecommunications projects.
• Build, repair, and maintain construction projects.
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites.
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field.
• Train crew members on various tools and equipment.
• Operate backhoes, dozers, cable plows, air compressors, trenchers, hydraulic reel trailers, and other machinery.
• Manage all aspects of job-site construction.
• Coach and mentor the team.
