About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, the Underground Foreman supports all phases of utility construction for various types of telecommunications projects. The role involves building, repairing, and maintaining projects; troubleshooting field issues; training crew members on tools and equipment; operating construction machinery; and managing job-site construction. The work takes place at outdoor utility construction sites and emphasizes safety, quality, hands-on work, and coaching and mentoring the crew.

Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge of the telecommunications construction industry, including coax splicing, fiber splicing, directional drilling, and aerial and underground construction.
• A track record of completing work to a high level of quality.
• Ability to troubleshoot difficult problems and take a hands-on approach to work.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for driving purposes.
• Applicants are subject to an MVR review and must meet company standards for a safe driving record.

Nice To Haves

• CDL preferred.
• MOS Codes 12H, 3E251, 3E271, and 4305 relate well to this position.

Responsibilities

• Support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects.
• Build, repair, and maintain construction projects.
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites.
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field.
• Train crew members on various types of tools and equipment.
• Operate backhoes, dozers, cable plows, air compressors, trenchers, hydraulic reel trailers, and other machinery.
• Manage all aspects of job-site construction.
• Coach and mentor the crew.
