About The Position

Bunker Hill Mine is seeking a skilled Underground Electrician to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of underground mining equipment and infrastructure. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems throughout the mine. The ideal candidate has strong industrial electrical experience, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic underground mining environment while ensuring compliance with MSHA regulations and company safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of industrial or mining electrical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of three-phase power systems, motor controls, and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with underground mining equipment and environments preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, accountability, quality workmanship, and problem-solving.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • MSHA Part 48 Underground Certification preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS systems, telematics, and advanced diagnostics is a plus.
  • Prior experience in hard rock or narrow-vein underground mining operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair underground electrical systems, including power distribution equipment, substations, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and grounding systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on underground mining equipment such as loaders, drills, and haul trucks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities to maximize equipment availability and minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
  • Support critical mine infrastructure including ventilation, pumping, hoisting, and dewatering systems.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and verify de-energization before performing work.
  • Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
  • Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns and perform timely repairs under underground operating conditions.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support production goals.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
