Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for ASL (Student)
About The Position
This position is available only to enrolled American University students. The Teaching Assistant (TA) will support instruction in an introductory American Sign Language (ASL) course by assisting with classroom activities, facilitating small-group practice, and providing peer support to students as they develop their receptive and expressive signing skills. The TA may help prepare instructional materials, model ASL use during class activities, maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, and assist the instructor with routine administrative tasks such as attendance, technology setup, or organizing course resources.
Requirements
- Successfully completed the introductory ASL course (or equivalent coursework) with a strong record of academic achievement, or be able to demonstrate proficiency in ASL.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability.

- Ability to work collaboratively with both students and the instructor.
