About The Position

The CEAE Department seeks an Undergraduate Teaching Lab Assistant to support faculty instruction for the CE 571 (Environmental Engineering Laboratory) course. This role involves pre-class preparation of experiments, assisting students with laboratory work during class, and grading student laboratory reports. The position requires both in-class and out-of-class work. Candidates are encouraged to discuss specific course duties and in-person class presence requirements with the instructor.

Requirements

• Must have taken the specified course or an equivalent class and earned at least a ‘B’ in the course.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated mastery of course content.
• The job requires physical presence in the course (approx. 4 hours/week during class hours) and may demand approx. 4 hours/week outside of class.
• Student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours during the semester term of the appointment.
• For summer periods, the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.

Nice To Haves

• Teaching/Tutoring experience in a university/college setting.
• Completion of additional upper-level lab-based courses in chemistry, biology, or related fields.
• Earned an ‘A’ in the course.

Responsibilities

• Enhance student learning by interacting with students during the class period by guiding students through laboratory work.
• Help faculty prepare for weekly experiments through preparation of materials, equipment set up and testing, and related activities.
• Grading of lab reports.
