About The Position

Undergraduate Course Assistants will assist first-year medical students in thoracic anatomy dissections as part of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry curriculum. They should demonstrate the ability to teach human anatomy in the lab and effectively facilitate student dissections of the thorax, including the thoracic wall, pleura, lungs, tracheobronchial tree, heart, and mediastinum. Responsibilities include leading twelve (12) dissection laboratory sessions and participating in the supervision and facilitation of 2 anatomy review sessions.

Requirements

  • Previous laboratory experience in human anatomy on topics relevant to the course description.
  • Strong knowledge of circulatory anatomy.
  • Experience with thoracic dissection.
  • Good communication skills are essential.
  • Effective communication skills in English are essential.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.

  • Communication in French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist first-year medical students in thoracic anatomy dissections.
  • Teach human anatomy in the lab.

  • Lead twelve (12) dissection laboratory sessions (one 3-hour session and eleven 2-hour sessions).
  • Participate in the supervision and facilitation of 2 anatomy review sessions (2 hours each).
