The Nelson research group ( https://research.fredhutch.org/peternelson/en.html ) at Fred Hutch Cancer Center has an opening for a Undergraduate Research Assistant interested in prostate cancer research and biomarker development to perform routine work in a research laboratory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Applicants must be at least a first-year college student or recent graduate with familiarity with cell/tissue culture methods and techniques and familiarity with DNA and RNA extractions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solution.
  • Rinse and prepare glassware for cleaning.
  • Maintain clean and orderly laboratory area.
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment.
  • Check and replenish supplies.
  • Assist with experiments and set-up.
  • Perform clerical duties as required.
  • Cell culture and maintenance of laboratory cell lines and organoids.
  • Nucleic acid extraction and purification.
  • Processing biospecimens for immunohistochemistry and related assays.
  • Assisting with assays of cancer therapeutics.
