The Nelson research group ( https://research.fredhutch.org/peternelson/en.html ) at Fred Hutch Cancer Center has an opening for a Undergraduate Research Assistant interested in prostate cancer research and biomarker development to perform routine work in a research laboratory.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants must be at least a first-year college student or recent graduate with familiarity with cell/tissue culture methods and techniques and familiarity with DNA and RNA extractions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solution.
- Rinse and prepare glassware for cleaning.
- Maintain clean and orderly laboratory area.
- Clean and maintain lab equipment.
- Check and replenish supplies.
- Assist with experiments and set-up.
- Perform clerical duties as required.
- Cell culture and maintenance of laboratory cell lines and organoids.
- Nucleic acid extraction and purification.
- Processing biospecimens for immunohistochemistry and related assays.
- Assisting with assays of cancer therapeutics.
