About The Position

Jefferson College of Nursing is seeking qualified applicants with experience in medical-surgical nursing to join our team. This full-time, 12-month faculty position is part of the Undergraduate Program, based at our Center City Campus in Philadelphia, PA. The primary responsibility of this role is to uphold academic integrity through the planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and student learning experiences across classroom, laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings. Interested applicants must possess visionary, creative leadership skills to provide implementation of nursing curriculum within the undergraduate program. Faculty members collaborate with Chair of Programs, Associate Deans, Dean, and support services to achieve program outcomes. As a faculty member, the applicant must have enthusiasm for teaching future nurses in the classroom and clinical settings. Faculty members serve as advisors and mentor for students and participate in college meetings and committees. Current practice, scholarship and service to the community are desired. Strong communication and relationship building skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing required
  • Eligible/current for licensure to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Med-Surg experience required
  • Knowledge and skills related to innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development, evaluation, and supporting students in their journey to become advanced practice nurses or willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills are essential

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree preferred
  • Candidates who do not have a doctoral degree must be currently enrolled in a doctoral program
  • Previous teaching experience preferred
  • Current practice, scholarship and service to the community are desired

Responsibilities

  • Uphold academic integrity through the planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and student learning experiences across classroom, laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings
  • Collaborating with faculty for course planning/projections
  • Identifying needed resources
  • Overseeing selection of clinical preceptors and clinical sites
  • Overseeing student clinical placement and progression
  • Collaborate with Chair of Programs, Associate Deans, Dean, and support services to achieve program outcomes
  • Serve as advisors and mentor for students
  • Participate in college meetings and committees
  • Utilize contemporary and innovative teaching methodologies in classroom, laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings
  • Serve on College committee(s) as assigned and participate in College and University activities throughout the year
  • Demonstrate evidence of ongoing clinical competency and participate in professional activities related to area of clinical expertise
  • Participate in scholarly activities, apart from personal academic pursuits
  • Participates in recruitment activities of the College and University
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Enterprise
