About The Position

The Undergraduate Learning Assistant will support instruction of CENG 231/L Systems Programming, a required Computer Engineering course covering C systems programming, the UNIX /Linux environment, memory management, and low-level software development. Course Assistants hold weekly office hours, assist students during lab sessions, and support the instructor with grading and course materials.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an undergraduate major within the Fowler School of Engineering
• Maintain a minimum GPA (3.0 or higher) and be in good academic standing
• Be enrolled in at least 12 undergraduate credits during the term of employment
• Successful completion of the course(s) the ULA will be assisting with a minimum grade of B

Responsibilities

• Hold weekly scheduled office hours to assist students with course concepts, programming assignments, and debugging.
• Assist students during scheduled lab sessions with development environment setup, toolchain issues, and lab exercises.
• Grade programming assignments against instructor-provided rubrics and provide constructive written feedback.
• Support preparation and testing of lab materials, starter code, and automated grading scripts.
• Report recurring student difficulties to the instructor.
• Maintain confidentiality of all student records in accordance with FERPA.
