About The Position

Sedgman Canada Ltd. is seeking an Undergraduate Engineer for an 8-month term (September to May) at their Vancouver, B.C. office. This role provides engineering support to the design and engineering team, contributing to high-quality project delivery. It offers a valuable opportunity for hands-on experience in engineering design fundamentals within a growing North American market. The position involves learning from a team of forward-thinking, enthusiastic, results-driven, and collaborative professionals.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program (Mechanical, Chemical, Process or Materials Engineering), entering into 3rd or 4th year of study.
  • Strong academic performance with an interest in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industry.
  • Basic understanding of engineering fundamentals and design principles.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD, Excel, modelling tools) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design support through the engineering phases PEA, PFS, FS, conceptual design, front-end engineering and detailed design.
  • Support preparation of engineering deliverables such as: Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Equipment lists and design documentation.
  • Assist in data analysis, modelling, and engineering studies.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (process, mechanical, structural, electrical).
  • Support project teams with reporting, scheduling, and documentation tracking.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives, systems use, and engineering tools.
  • Perform general project support tasks as required.
