About The Position

Franklin Templeton is a forward-thinking asset manager that builds dynamic relationships with clients, understands their goals, and navigates complex markets together. The Undergrad Intern – FT Investment Solutions: Asset Allocation Research role is part of the MOSAIQ multi-asset investment platform team, which is responsible for developing and systematizing all investment processes related to creating a multi-asset portfolio, including strategic asset allocation, dynamic asset allocation, and manager allocation. The team culture is dynamic and collaborative, with quantitative and technical expertise involved in all aspects of the investment process, from data collection and wrangling to idea generation and methodology implementation. There is a strong ownership culture that allows employees to carry out their ideas within the broader vision of the group. Interns can expect to learn how a multi-asset portfolio is constructed, gain in-depth knowledge of specific datasets, learn data wrangling and cleaning methods, create "smart" reports to validate datasets, improve Python skills for financial applications, and understand quantitative models used in strategic asset allocation.

Requirements

• Experience programming in languages such as Python, Matlab, and R.
• Experience working with databases, e.g., SQL.
• Some finance coursework or a demonstrated strong interest in investing strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create "smart" reports that detail data quality.
• Detail model changes and identify which data component is driving the change.
• Learn data cleaning techniques.
• Utilize Python skills to create user-friendly reports/templates for use within Mosaiq and by investment professionals.
• Answer specific questions such as: what macro-economic factor is driving the change in YEN forecast for this quarter?
