About The Position

Culpepper & Associates Security Services Inc. is seeking Unarmed Security Officers to work at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. As a Security Officer, working in a clinical environment, you will serve and safeguard the United States Veterans’ Affairs (VA) property and their customers. As Security Officers, we are responsible for the surveillance of the client’s healthcare premises and the protection of their staff, patients, and visitors. We also provide customer service in a friendly and professional manner, providing assistance when needed or asked. Total Hourly Wage: $22.29 / hour Base Rate: $17.20 / hour, Health & Welfare Fringe: $5.09 / hour - up to 40 hours worked.

Requirements

  • Must have an active Texas guard license.
  • Must possess excellent public relations/customer service skills, and good written and oral communication skills.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Successfully pass a criminal background investigation.
  • Successfully complete a physical examination and drug screening.
  • Ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment; work closely with medical and nursing staff to resolve patient-related issues/problems.
  • A valid Florida driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
  • Valid State of Texas Security Guard License
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to write basic reports and documentation
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have a current Texas drivers license

Nice To Haves

  • Previous security officer, unarmed guard, military, law enforcement, or customer service experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and secure environment for VA patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Perform security service duties through professional and positive interaction with VA patients, employees and administrators.
  • Provide emergency and non-emergency assistance.
  • Document safety hazards, incidents and criminal activities.
  • Intercedes in disputes between individuals using verbal de-escalation techniques and skills to diffuse potentially violent patient, employee, or visitor situations.
  • Observe activity to enforce VA rules/regulations, alert visitors of infractions.
  • Assist individuals on VA property needing directions or information.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all PII and HIPPA matters pertaining to patients, visitors and/or employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
