About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Vascular/General Ultrasound Technologist to perform vascular testing and general ultrasound studies in a hospital setting. The technologist will obtain high-quality diagnostic images and measurements, recognize technical issues and abnormalities, and communicate findings promptly to physicians. The technologist may be required to provide coverage across vascular and general ultrasound departments as needed, including evening, night, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage.

Requirements

  • Previous hospital-based experience preferred; one year of hospital experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely lift and assist with patients weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong knowledge of vascular and general ultrasound procedures.
  • Ability to recognize abnormal findings and technical limitations.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and patient-care skills.
  • ARDMS – Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
  • RVT – Registered Vascular Technologist
  • BLS – Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
  • Associate Degree in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Perform vascular testing and general ultrasound examinations using computer-assisted analysis systems.
  • Obtain accurate diagnostic images, measurements, and documentation.
  • Recognize imaging artifacts and technical problems and take appropriate steps to eliminate or minimize their causes.
  • Identify abnormalities and promptly communicate pertinent findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Repeat portions of examinations as requested by vascular or radiology physicians.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation and ensure appropriate patient charges are generated.
  • Participate actively in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, including evaluation, reporting, and recommendations.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and request necessary supplies.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and assist with evaluation of new equipment.
  • Attend required in-services, departmental meetings, and educational programs.
  • Maintain and expand clinical knowledge through continuing education, professional journals, textbooks, training materials, professional associations, and applicable CEUs.
  • Follow established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, infection control practices, and quality assurance requirements.
