About The Position

We are seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to perform magnetic resonance imaging examinations safely and efficiently while providing excellent patient care. The technologist will review examination requests, follow established MRI protocols, operate department equipment, evaluate image quality, administer contrast when required, and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • One year of MRI experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of MRI procedures, protocols, anatomy, and patient safety.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot MRI equipment appropriately.
  • Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Ability to lift and assist patients weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to complete required Point-of-Care Testing training during orientation.
  • Ability to work evening shifts and alternating weekends.
  • ARRT-MR – Magnetic Resonance Imaging Certification
  • BLS – Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
  • Associate Degree in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Review MRI examination requests and identify special instructions from the requesting physician.
  • Consult with radiologists or referring physician offices when clarification or additional information is required.
  • Greet patients professionally, verify patient identification, and establish a comfortable and reassuring environment.
  • Explain MRI procedures thoroughly to patients and family members when appropriate.
  • Obtain relevant patient information and review required documentation and safety forms.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of MRI equipment and its proper operation.
  • Perform MRI examinations according to established protocols and departmental standards.
  • Properly position patients and demonstrate the anatomy being evaluated through appropriate imaging techniques.
  • Evaluate acquired images for technical quality and determine whether additional imaging is necessary.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media by injection according to established protocols and safety procedures.
  • Review pertinent forms and documentation related to contrast administration.
  • Complete required documentation, including contrast reaction forms, extravasation reports, and safety tracking documentation.
  • Perform visual preventive safety inspections and quality assurance testing of MRI equipment in accordance with applicable ACR standards.
  • Identify equipment or safety issues and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain an accurate daily activities log.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure appropriate storage and ordering of supplies.
  • Report shortages and identify special-order items as needed.
  • Recognize emergency situations, initiate appropriate emergency/code procedures, and provide first aid or CPR when necessary.
  • Coordinate scheduling with other departments to promote efficient patient flow.
  • Assist scheduling personnel with non-routine examination decisions when qualified.
  • Maintain professional telephone etiquette when communicating with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Enter and order examinations, track patient information, scan documents, and make copies of examinations as requested.
