A Texas Health Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for explaining procedures to patient or guardian/family member if applicable prior to and during exam, imaging correct anatomical area of interest and pathology according to department protocols, and performing complex procedures including age related criteria and developmental considerations. In addition to the required qualifications, a successful Ultrasound Technologist will assist radiologist with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique. correctly send and transfer images to PACS. work in tandem with staff to ensure laser images from modality or PACS are printed as needed. operate, care for and maintain equipment. prepare room for examination (i.e. suction, oxygen, supplies). handle patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices, and monitor patient during imaging.
