About The Position

This is a PRN Ultrasound Technologist position located at Paoli Hospital. The role involves providing diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound to generate images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. The technologist will operate sonographic equipment independently, evaluate images for diagnostic quality, and make necessary adjustments. Collaboration with radiologists and other healthcare professionals is key to providing accurate diagnostic information. Ensuring patient safety and comfort through clear explanations, correct positioning, and equipment adjustments is also a primary responsibility. Familiarity with current scan protocols, high-level disinfection practices, and assisting with minimally invasive procedures are expected. The role also requires familiarity with ultrasound contrast indications and administration practices, and providing intraoperative ultrasound as requested.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
  • For ACR accredited ultrasound departments: Requires active status through one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen, RDMS(AB), Obstetrics & Gynecology, RDMS(OB/GYN), or Pediatric Sonography, RDMS(PS), and/or Registered Vascular Technologist - Vascular Technology , RVT(VT); American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography, RT(S) or Vascular Sonography, RT(VS) ; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Vascular Sonographer, RVS; as required by facility accreditation, if applicable.
  • Exception for breast ultrasound only: Must obtain credential through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): RDMS(BR); or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography & Breast US, RT(S)(BS), or Radiography , Mammography & Breast Ultrasound, RT(R)(M)(BS); within 18 months of hire.
  • For non-ACR accredited ultrasound departments: Requires candidates to meet one of the two following conditions: Must be actively pursuing ultrasound education and have already passed the ARDMS physics boards, or must have graduated from an ultrasound education program. Requires certification through one of the methods mentioned in the accredited section above within 12 months of hire.
  • May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
  • May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
