About The Position

Performs routine and special diagnostic ultrasound procedures according to departmental and hospital policies. Operates and maintains all sonographic and ancillary equipment; assists with providing 24 hours a day, seven days a week coverage.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited certification program in Ultrasound Technology or Radiologic Technology
  • Minimum of three (3) months of full-time Sonographer experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, hear, speak and comprehend the English language fluently.
  • Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) registry in three or more disciplines: Abdominal, Obstetrics, Breast and/or Vascular.

Responsibilities

  • Operates ultrasound equipment associated with the performance of all ultrasound procedures, including portable, biopsies and emergency examinations.
  • Recognizes and reports equipment malfunctions.
  • Follows ACR and department policies in order to maximize image view quality.
  • Assists with department coverage, including on-call hours.
  • Assists the Radiologists and physicians with biopsies and cyst aspirations.
  • Sets upon the exam room and utilizes sterile techniques.
  • Operates teleradiology and ancillary equipment.
  • Schedules appointments and instructs patient with regard to preparation instructions.
  • Receives and records verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners for orders that are specific to the services provided by their department.
