About The Position

Under the direction of the technical supervisor and medical director, the Ultrasound Technologist II demonstrates competency and proficiency in all skills required to perform level I routine and level II advanced ultrasound procedures as defined by department protocols. All technologists utilize independent judgment and required knowledge to obtain high quality diagnostic ultrasound images. The technologist competently evaluates the technical quality of the images obtained and prior to submitting to interpreting radiologist. They educate the patient/family about the procedure and report all changes in patient’s status, including initiating emergency response if required. They accurately document patient information in the appropriate hospital systems. Ultrasound Technologist II acts as a resource to less experience technologists in the department. Hospital based positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital adjacent imaging center locations. Performs other duties as assigned. This position is requires full-time night (graveyard) shift availability.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or higher.
  • Graduate of an ARDMS approved ultrasound program.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as an ultrasound technologist, preferably in an acute care setting.
  • BLS certification.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered in one or more specialties.
  • Non-Invasive Cardiac Imaging: RCSAE: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer – Adult Echo (RDCS) registered, Or RCS: Registered Cardiac Sonographer – Adult Echo.
  • Non-Invasive Vascular Lab: DMSVT: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS-RVT) registered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience may be considered in lieu of education if licensure and certification requirements are met (Hospital/OP Imaging locations only).
  • Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs approved program (exception for programs completed prior to 1994).
  • Experience with adult, neonate, and pediatric cardiac ultrasound as well as stress echocardiograms, TEEs, and Intra-Operative TEE (Cardiology department only).
  • Experience with Bicycle Stress Echocardiograms (Cardiology department only).
  • Advanced credential in vascular imaging (RVT).
  • Call responsibility and rotation to hospital adjacent imaging center locations (Hospital based positions).
