About The Position

Responsible for performing routine, portable, and STAT echocardiography exams in either an inpatient and/or outpatient setting in accordance with established protocols for positioning, image quality, and ALARA principles. Must be available to work scheduled on-call shifts when needed. Utilizes a variety of specialized equipment to produce sonographic images, as well as computers and various software applications to enter patient related information into hospital information systems. Contributes to the overall excellence of the department through commitment to personal and professional excellence in technical and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited program in Cardiac Sonography or an Associate's degree in Ultrasound technology with a certificate from an accredited school.
  • One to two years of experience, which may include program and clinical externships in a related field.
  • ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers) registry required at time of hire or within 12 months of hire OR CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) registry required at time of hire or within 12 months of hire.
  • Analytical ability to resolve problems using basic specific, mathematical, or technical principles and in-depth experience-based knowledge of cardiac sonography.
  • Ability to explain clinical, technical, and diagnostic procedures to patients and their families.
