Firelands Health is seeking a Registered Ultrasound Technician to join their team on a PRN basis. Requirements

  • Must be RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Sonographer) registered in one or more sub-specialties (OB/GYN and/or abdominal preferred).
  • Graduate of a radiologic or ultrasonography program.
  • Certified in CPR.
  • Uses proper body mechanics.
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or assist in moving patients from carts, wheelchairs, or other transport devices onto imaging table/couch.
  • Ability to physically position patients for image acquisition or interventional/therapeutic procedures.
  • Ability to maintain neat and orderly files and records.
  • Ability to communicate and understand oral and written communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, physicians, co-workers, and patients.

  • Additional specialties beyond OB/GYN and abdominal are desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, confirms identification, and explains procedures.
  • Prepares necessary supplies, equipment, and rooms for exams.
  • Performs various ultrasound techniques and examinations, including vascular, abdominal, breast, obstetric, and gynecological imaging.
  • Prepares patients for exams, including explanation, positioning, and transfer.
  • Lifts, moves, and transports patients using wheelchairs or carts.
  • Selects and operates equipment, adjusting technical factors as needed.
  • Observes patients and machines during procedures, reporting any unusual occurrences.
  • Utilizes hospital computer systems (HIS/RIS/PACS) for data retrieval, image review, and order entry.
  • Maintains records of examination data and patient information.
  • Stocks ultrasound department supplies and reports equipment malfunctions.
  • Consults with others to obtain complete clinical history and gathers pertinent clinical data.
  • Identifies problems and communicates appropriately to Lead Ultrasonographer.
  • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  • Participates in community outreach screenings.
  • Performs mobile vascular studies as needed.
  • Is available for emergency call on a rotational basis.
  • Assists Director and Lead Ultrasonographer in maintaining imaging protocols.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient age-specific needs and modifies care accordingly.
  • Works in front office/file room as needed.
