About The Position
The Ultrasound Tech II is responsible for serving as a patient advocate, ensuring timely scheduling of inpatients and outpatients, and providing education to patients before, during, and after exams. This role involves maintaining positive relationships with patients, other departments, physicians, and colleagues, and actively participating in improving customer satisfaction. The position also requires accountability for producing quality sonograms, demonstrating appropriate operation of sonography equipment, and ensuring safety in all areas. Accurate data entry into radiology and hospital systems, participation in CQI indicators, and submitting ideas for quality improvement are also key aspects of this role. Additionally, the Ultrasound Tech II is expected to assess their own learning needs, seek appropriate training, set learning goals, and provide education to student radiographers. The role also involves submitting ideas for innovation, participating in hospital-wide initiatives, and implementing Just-Do-It initiatives. Engagement in hospital-wide and departmental activities, attending staff and departmental meetings, and participating in efforts to improve productivity and contain costs are also expected. The position requires ensuring the availability of appropriate supplies and submitting ideas for reducing expenses or generating revenue.
Requirements
- ARDMS Registered
- 1-2 years experience.
- Graduate of an approved School of sonography or on the job training with 1-2 years experience as a staff sonographer.
- ARDMS Registered
- CPR certified
- Ability to adjust hours with minimal notice as required.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to view small crt screens.
- Ability to work odd hours.
- Ability to respond to emergency call.
- Ability to lift and/or move patients.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions
- Ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week.
- Ability to stand, bend and /or stoop for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities
- Serves as a patient advocate to ensure that patients and customers needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensures timely scheduling of both inpatients and out patients.
- Provides education to all patients before, during and after exams.
- Maintains a positive relationship with all customers i.e. patients, other departments, physicians and fellow associates.
- Reviews patient satisfaction data and participates in improving areas of concern.
- Utilizes appropriate resources to resolve patient issues.
- Addresses and resolves customer complaints.
- Ensures on-time completion of your performance pathway.
- Sends out co-worker feedback forms 6 months before review to associates you and your leader have identified as able to provide valuable feedback.
- Submits self-evaluation to leader two weeks before review.
- Participates quarterly in the TNT associate satisfaction survey.
- Submits ideas each year for improving customer satisfaction.
- Accountable for the production of quality sonograms.
- Demonstrates the appropriate operation of all sonography equipment including transducers, doppler energy package, laser printers, telaradiography etc.
- Demonstrates safety in all areas, electrical and environmental.
- Ensures all appropriate information is present before sonograms are performed, including verification of physician orders.
- Completes all data entries in the radiology and hospital system.
- Participates in efforts to monitor and improve departmental CQI indicators.
- Submits ideas for improving quality in your department.
- Assess own learning needs, seeks appropriate training and development.
- Sets own learning goals.
- Development of a learning plan and document your progress on a learning log.
- Provides education to the student radiographers in the area of ultrasound.
- Submits Dynamite ideas to your leader.
- Participates in hospital-wide or departmental DIG each year.
- Implements Just-Do-It initiatives in your department during the year.
- Participates in hospital-wide TNT-related activities.
- Participates in departmental recognition and socialization activities.
- Attends all ultrasound staff meetings.
- Attends quarterly departmental meetings.
- Participates in efforts to improve productivity in your department.
- Submits ideas for improving productivity in your department.
- Ensures appropriate supplies are available.
- Participates in efforts to contain costs or generate revenue in your department.
- Submits ideas for reducing expenses or adding revenue.
