About The Position

This position is for an Ultrasound Tech specializing in Echo, working in Non-Invasive Cardiology at Sharp Grossmont Hospital. The role involves performing a wide variety of technical procedures with quality patient care, assisting Physicians as needed. It includes on-call coverage for assigned weekdays, rotating weekend shifts, and holidays. The position requires flexibility to cover varying available shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, and both weekday and weekend days. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of formal training program in an AMA approved school and meets the requirements of an appropriate State and/or Federal mandated certification or equivalent.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography OR Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International OR Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International - REQUIRED

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of technical procedures with quality patient care, assisting Physicians as needed.
  • Provides on-call coverage for assigned weekdays, rotating weekend shifts and holidays.
  • Cover varying available shifts, days, evenings, overnights, weekday and weekend days.
  • Provide pre and post procedure education and reassurance to patients and families.
  • Interact and communicate in a manner that reflects an understanding of the patient's age, culture, state of health, and level of comprehension.
  • Communicate and interact with the patient's family in a way that is perceived positive and supportive while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Understand and apply appropriate imaging techniques to achieve the highest quality study obtainable.
  • Perform exams and positions according to department imaging, cardiac, or vascular ultrasound protocols.
  • Label and identify studies correctly using legal marker set.
  • Use imaging equipment proficiently.
  • Use imaging agents (contrast) according to protocol.
  • Perform routine and special procedure exams as assigned.
  • Verify patient identification and pregnancy status if appropriate.
  • Assist Radiologist or Cardiologist in procedures while practicing sterile techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Deliver safe, efficient and therapeutic care.
  • Perform proper procedure on proper patient.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions and sterile techniques.
  • Observe the patient, report any changes in status, and initiate appropriate action to ensure a positive outcome.
  • Follow patient's Advanced Directive, if applicable.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines for PHI as appropriate.

  • Hourly Pay Range: $58.920 - $76.030 - $85.150
