About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a registered Ultrasound Technologist, the Imaging Student Extern performs imaging-related tasks and procedures learned in class and practiced in school and during clinical rotations at a Tenet facility, with demonstrated competency. The position assists with ultrasound procedures, patient positioning and transport, department operations, documentation, and equipment and supply readiness.

Requirements

• Be a full-time student in good standing at an accredited school of Diagnostic Sonography.
• Hold BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assist the technologist with imaging procedures and, when appropriate, position patients for ultrasound exams according to department protocols and procedures.
• Transport patients as necessary.
• Follow departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety and environmental standards.
• Work with Ultrasound Technologists/Sonographers to support smooth department operations.
• Prepare written documentation required by department and hospital policies, recording the history of a patient's illness or injury during their radiology care.
• Ensure equipment functions and maintain orderly, clean work areas.
• Check the availability of supplies and accessories needed to perform exams.
• Remain flexible and organized and function effectively in stressful situations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested, within capabilities and with reasonable accommodations.
