About The Position

The Sonographer performs sonography procedures at a technical level that does not require constant supervision of technical details. The role involves performing a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and ingenuity in applying prescribed sonography for diagnosis. The Sonographer is responsible for designated procedure areas and may have individual responsibility for specified sonography procedures and/or be assigned as an instructor. This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000.

Requirements

High school degree.
American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification.
BCLS certification.

Nice To Haves

2–3 years of relevant job experience in a healthcare setting under a Board Certified Radiologist.

Responsibilities

Verify physician orders in the patient’s chart, prescription, and schedule.
Explain tests to patients and instruct and assist them in assuming the physical position for examinations.
Assess patient pain that may interfere with imaging procedures.
Provide patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical or health care errors.
Select a transducer and adjust equipment controls according to the organ being examined, depth of field, and other test specifications.
Enter test data and patient information into the ultrasound equipment computer to maintain test-result records.
Perform prescribed quality control checks.
Schedule patients to provide an orderly flow of procedures through the department.
Perform other duties as required.
