The Naval Power organization is looking to hire an Ultra Production Chief Engineer to execute the production of a common Electronics Assembly (Ultra) that meets the performance needs of multiple adopting programs. This includes driving the execution of Ultra Blk 1 and Ultra Blk 2 through the transition to production phase while driving deliveries of POM quality HW to multiple adopting programs. The Ultra CE will lead in the management of the cost, schedule, performance, and risk of a critical component to multiple franchise programs within Raytheon, impacting multi-billion dollars of business. The primary product of the Ultra Program is the Ultra Electronics Assembly, which integrates a complete radar exciter/receiver, advanced signal processing capabilities, navigation capability, and flexible internal and external interfaces. The Ultra Assembly is in early low rate production and is in the midst of a substantial effort to deliver units with proven full requirements compliance to multiple using programs, each with unique performance and environmental requirements. Several of these adopting programs are now on the critical munitions list, requiring an accelerated delivery profile. This position is located onsite in Tucson, AZ.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience with system development and design, requirements development, management, verification, system integration and test, and production.
  • Experience working on modular systems architectures and product lines.
  • Experience as a technical leader who can develop work plans and drive execution.
  • Experience leading engineering teams.
  • Experience managing resources with multi-million-dollar annual budgets.
  • Experience in strategic development, customer interface, or contract capture in the Defense Industry
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • RMD Level 4 Certified Chief Engineer
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in leading and executing production of complex system architectures
  • Demonstrated experience across the product lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, and production
  • Proven ability to develop effective internal and external customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and continued business
  • Direct experience with Engineering Risks and Opportunities (R&O) Management
  • Master’s degree in engineering, Physics, or related discipline

Responsibilities

  • Helping define and driving production execution based on product vision, strategy, and goals to align with multiple Programs/Customers and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across the IPT and other functions to meet and/or exceed cost, schedule, and technical requirements.
  • Primary technical point of contact with production team and communication to senior leaders.
  • Support the capture of new business and influence technical and product line road maps, ensuring they are reflected in program planning and execution.
  • Plan out and lead the incremental break-in of upgrades and system improvements.
  • Owning and driving Configuration Control Board and Supplier Change Board.
  • Drive positive change within the production environment as a key stakeholder in Failure Review Boards, FRACAS activities and other continuous improvement efforts.
  • Technically engage with major subcontractors and partners to ensure product deliverables.
  • Direct a team of multi-disciplined engineers in support of production deliveries.
