About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist produces two dimensional, ultrasonic recordings of internal organs to be used by the prescribing Physician in the diagnosis of diseases and in the study of the malfunction of organs.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • 1+ years related experience and/or training
  • Applicants must be registered or registry eligible through ARDMS or ARRT.
  • If registry eligible, the applicant must be ARDMS or ARRT registered within 3 months of employment.
  • BLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • breast ultrasound experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Select equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination
  • Explain process to patient, and instruct and assist patient in assuming physical position for examination
  • Select transducer and adjust equipment controls according to the organ being examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test
  • Key test data and patient information into the computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results
  • Move transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observe sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced
  • Adhere to the Service Excellence Standards and Expectations at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center
  • Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
  • Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties
  • Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive workplace and customer environments
  • Work as a team to continuously improve work quality.
  • Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and identification band on in-patients
