About The Position

We are looking for a Ukulele SPIN Instructor to lead a fun, culturally rich SPIN class centered on ukulele music and Hawaiian culture. This class blends English language practice with introductory ukulele instruction, cultural storytelling, and interactive activities. The goal is not to develop advanced musicians, but to give students a memorable introduction to the ukulele while building their confidence using English. Students will learn a few basic chords, simple songs, and the cultural significance of the instrument, leaving with a Hawaiian experience and the confidence to continue playing if they choose. We're looking for someone who enjoys sharing music and culture in an engaging way. Expert-level musicianship is not required. No prior teaching curriculum is required. We're looking for someone who can create a fun, welcoming experience and help students leave class knowing a few songs, a few chords, and with a deeper appreciation for Hawaiian culture.

Requirements

  • Comfortably playing the ukulele and teaching beginners.
  • Ability to lead simple songs and explain basic techniques in an encouraging, accessible way.
  • Interest in Hawaiian culture and a desire to share it with international students.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching, coaching, performing, or leading groups is preferred, but not required.
  • Professional-level or advanced ukulele performance is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging SPIN classes that combine introductory ukulele instruction with English language practice.
  • Teach basic chords, strumming patterns, and a selection of beginner-friendly songs.
  • Introduce students to Hawaiian culture, music, and the cultural significance of the ukulele.
  • Encourage students to use music-related vocabulary and conversational English throughout the class.
  • Adapt activities for students with different language levels and little or no musical experience.
  • Create a welcoming, enjoyable environment where students feel comfortable trying something new.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive classroom rooted in the values of aloha.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay is $21–22 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
