The Engineering Applications Department (EAD) is seeking a UI/UX Designer & Developer to create world-class user experience for complex space systems. We develop cutting-edge visualization tools from sophisticated web and desktop applications to immersive experiences, that transform complex engineering data into intuitive interfaces for critical decision-making in civil, commercial, and national security space programs. ISCD staff leverage cutting-edge information system technologies, including elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and advanced visualization frameworks, combined with expertise in software architecture, AI, and cybersecurity to deliver high-performance systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers. You will work closely with product experience designers and other engineers to translate customer needs into innovative design solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, or related STEM discipline
  • At least 2 years of experience in frontend development
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and modern web frontend frameworks and libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue
  • Demonstrated ability in user research, usability testing, rapid prototyping, and accessibility
  • Proven ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences, from engineers to executives
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government.
  • U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • 4+ years of experience frontend development
  • Proven experience in architecting visualization software solutions
  • Leading team discussions and code collaboration to promote continuous progress
  • Participating in client, industry, and end-user discussions to help provide technical viewpoint on the application
  • Experience leading an Agile development team using Atlassian tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, SourceTree, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or Ph.D. in HCI, Computer Science, Design, or Human Factors
  • Experience with rapid prototyping tools and methodologies
  • Proficiency with Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, or equivalent modeling tools
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customers and staff
  • Experience building and maintaining large-scale design systems
  • Previous experience working with aerospace or defense industry clients
  • Current DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance
