Engineering teams within Netflix work hard every day to scale and innovate content production and member experiences in an ever-growing complex software landscape. Our Content & Business Products (CBP) Engineering teams build the products and services to optimize and automate the content creation process including content planning, financing, production, promotion, and distribution. We support Netflix's enterprise needs including Finance, Talent, Tech Support, and Customer Support to ensure smooth operations. Our products enable the entire workflow of content production, from pitch to play, and provide innovative new ways to develop and manage entertainment at scale. The team’s work is critical to supporting the creation of movies and TV series that will thrill the world!

Requirements

  • Passionate about user experience and have an eye for improving UIs, passionate about building intuitive user interfaces in close partnership with UX Designers and Product Managers
  • Love brainstorming with fellow Backend and UI engineers, product designers, and product managers, and directly with our users, to understand what they want, figure out what they really need, and finally, what we should build.
  • Eager to identify business opportunities that positively impact the organization's bottom line.
  • Strive to embrace best practices and are always searching for opportunities to continually improve.
  • Selfless and willing to flex across the stack or into a new domain to help a teammate when needed, never thinking “that’s someone else’s job”.
  • Passionate and opinionated about UI Engineering and specific technologies to it, can make, influence, and inform architectural decisions while effectively farming for dissent.
  • Adept at building enterprise applications with HTML/JavaScript/TypeScript/CSS. We currently build our user experiences with React, GraphQL, and several more libraries and frameworks depending on the product.
  • Curious to work with the Hawkins Design System, adopting reusable components as part of the product and contributing to their implementation.
  • Strong sense of ownership, independence, bias towards action, and inclination for collaboration. We live by our values, learn more about our unique culture here.
  • Able to recognize, communicate, address and lead the technical improvements as part of the roadmap
  • Passionate about web performance, observability and developer experience tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of web performance and accessibility.
  • Strong in technical design end to end with emphasis on UI and can inform the vision of fellow UI and BE colleagues.
  • Helped define and ensure accountability for UI Engineering best practices across a team.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally to build, test, deploy, and launch UIs that operationalize our workflows at scale.
  • Participate in product reviews and team meetings, providing technical insight. Help scope, estimate, and prioritize between conflicting needs.
  • Evaluate new technologies and approaches to streamline and improve our rapid application development tooling and conventions.
  • Regularly learn and influence new systems and tools as the Netflix platform and ecosystem evolve.
  • Participate in our on-call rotation and lead the incident reviews.
  • Effectively communicate complex technical issues and solutions to stakeholders
  • Apply engineering best practices to guide projects and decisions, mentor team members,
  • Live company values, promoting an inclusive team environment, and ensuring high standards of conduct and performance across teams.
  • Driving the resolution of complex problems and leading strategic projects that enhance team capabilities and impact, operating across functional boundaries.
  • Deepening technical mastery to implement sustainable solutions, optimize system efficiency, and make informed decisions on system quality, reliability, and performance.
