The Maryland Department of Labor, (MD Labor), Division of Unemployment Insurance is accepting applications for the position of UI Contributions Tax Auditor I. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year after the closing date of the announcement. The primary objective of this role is to conduct business audits in Maryland to verify their adherence to the Maryland Unemployment Insurance Law. This position is the trainee level of work performing audits and investigations that include examining and analyzing the payroll and business records of employers. The audits and investigations are conducted to determine or confirm liability under Unemployment Insurance Law in accordance with federal Tax Performance Standards and Field Investigation and Audit Unit policies in the Department of Labor’s Unemployment Insurance Contribution Division, generally accepted auditing standards and practices, governmental auditing standards and practices, and generally accepted accounting principles. The audits are performed independently or as a member of an audit team.
