About The Position

Smoking Gun Interactive, a Keywords Studio, is seeking a UI Implementor experienced in designing, executing, and implementing game user interface assets and animations. Prior game development experience for mobile & PC platforms and proven illustration, graphic design, and motion graphic skills are highly valued. This position is offered on a remote basis, but applicants must be currently located in BC, ideally within the greater Vancouver area.

Requirements

3+ years of experience developing interactive interfaces in game engine or web-based UI editors and tools
At least one shipped game title
An exceptional online portfolio featuring examples of your 2D UI work
A Degree/Diploma in Graphic Design, Animation, Motion Graphics, or Illustration or equivalent work experience
Unity, Unreal or other game engine experience
An ability to translate complex information into a user-friendly layout
Good Understanding of art/animation fundamentals and how to apply them in game assets
Strong visual design skills (i.e., composition, layout, typography, colour theory)
A passion for problem-solving as well as strong organizational and analytical skills
An obsession for getting designs to pixel perfect
The ability to accept direction, work well in a fast-paced environment
Expert knowledge of 2D art tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, After Effects

Nice To Haves

Prior game development experience for mobile & PC platforms
Proven illustration, graphic design and motion graphic skills

Responsibilities

Build and implement UI art and animations
Work closely with UX, designers, and engineers to set up screens and animations
Create UI layouts and high fidelity graphics with Lead Artist
Work closely with engineers to integrate assets and animations within tech specifications for multiple platforms in editor
Rapidly iterate and develop solutions to design challenges while following creative and art direction
Address and integrate feedback from various departments to achieve bug-free and polished user experience
Assist the Lead Artist in any necessary duties
