About The Position

The UG Electrical Shift Coordinator plays a critical role in overseeing and managing underground electrical operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. This position is responsible for coordinating shift activities, monitoring electrical systems, and responding promptly to any operational issues or emergencies. The coordinator acts as a liaison between field personnel and management, facilitating clear communication and effective problem-solving. By maintaining detailed records and reports, the role supports continuous improvement and operational excellence. Ultimately, the UG Electrical Shift Coordinator ensures that all electrical activities are conducted safely and effectively to support overall project and organizational goals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical technology or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in underground electrical operations or a similar industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, safety standards, and regulatory compliance relevant to underground operations.
• Proven ability to coordinate teams and manage shift activities effectively.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work in underground or confined spaces as required.
• Technical electrical knowledge daily to assess system performance and troubleshoot issues, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
• Strong communication skills are essential for coordinating between diverse teams and conveying critical information clearly and promptly.
• Leadership and organizational skills enable the coordinator to manage shift schedules, prioritize tasks, and maintain compliance with safety regulations.
• Analytical skills support the interpretation of monitoring data and the implementation of corrective actions to optimize system reliability.
• Proficiency with digital tools and reporting software facilitates accurate documentation and continuous operational improvements.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Experience with electrical maintenance management systems and computerized monitoring tools.
• Certification in safety management or emergency response (e.g., OSHA, NFPA).
• Previous experience in a supervisory or shift coordination role within mining, utilities, or heavy industry.
• Familiarity with project management principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise underground electrical operations during assigned shifts to ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures.
• Monitor electrical equipment and systems for performance, identifying and addressing any faults or irregularities promptly.
• Communicate effectively with field teams, management, and other departments to coordinate work schedules, resources, and emergency responses.
• Maintain accurate documentation of shift activities, incidents, maintenance, and inspections to support compliance and reporting requirements.
• Conduct safety briefings and ensure all personnel are trained and equipped to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
