About The Position

The UG Apprentice 1-8 will assist experienced underground utility crews with the installation, maintenance, and repair of various underground infrastructure components. This role involves learning foundational skills and safety protocols while supporting a range of construction activities.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting heavy objects, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced personnel.
Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record (preferred, may be required for some levels).
Basic understanding of construction safety practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist with trenching, excavation, and backfilling operations using hand tools and basic equipment.
Support the laying and connecting of pipes, conduits, and cables under direct supervision.
Load and unload materials and tools at job sites.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage of equipment.
Learn and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Operate small power tools and equipment as directed and trained.
Perform general labor duties as assigned by crew leaders or supervisors.
Participate in training and development programs to advance skills and knowledge.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Assist with site preparation and restoration tasks.
