Under general supervision, performs any work required for the construction and maintenance of all types of dead or energized conductors, structures, plants, and equipment employed in the production and distribution of electrical energy. This includes installing, testing, removing, or replacing various electrical equipment such as motors, generators, transformers, circuit breakers, and relays. The role also involves testing, operating, repairing, or replacing hydro station equipment like penstocks, spillways, and turbines. Additionally, it includes installing, removing, or replacing underground and overhead systems, cable splicing, insulating, oil testing, welding, minor plumbing, driving trucks, operating winches, painting, excavating, and concrete work. The position also entails installing, removing, or replacing lighting systems in streets, yards, or buildings, and performing other related or less skilled work as directed. The UC&M Mechanic 1/C may direct the work of others and can receive a substitution bonus or be temporarily upgraded if supervising three or more other employees for a period of four hours or more.
