UAS Inventory Measurement Technician

Dolese Bros. Co.•Oklahoma City, OK

About The Position

The UAS Inventory Measurement Technician uses unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and geospatial technology to capture, process, and validate physical inventory measurements across Dolese's Construction Aggregate and Ready Mix operations. The role plans and conducts recurring inventory flights, processes aerial data using platforms such as Propeller and ArcGIS, and provides accurate, timely measurement data to support inventory reporting and connected business systems. Working with Plant Operations, SCADA, and Accounting, the technician helps establish consistent measurement practices, improve data integrity, and expand automated data-acquisition technology across Dolese operations. The position includes field-based UAS flight operations and maintenance, geospatial data processing and reporting, inventory discrepancy support, and development of repeatable procedures. Travel to sites in Oklahoma and North Texas may be required up to 60% of the time. The work can involve outdoor operations in varying weather, uneven quarry and stockpile terrain, and work outside normal business hours when necessary.

  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS or comparable GIS for geospatial data management, mapping, and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of photogrammetry and point-cloud processing tools.
  • Experience with or ability to learn the Propeller platform for survey data processing, volumetric analysis, and stockpile reporting.
  • Understanding of UAS hardware and routine maintenance, including propellers, batteries, sensors, and payloads.
  • Knowledge of surveying principles, ground control, and coordinate systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy and precision in inventory measurements.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and communicate findings clearly to Operations and Accounting stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a multi-site flight and measurement schedule.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to sites up to 60% of the time within Oklahoma and North Texas.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside normal business hours and in varying weather conditions if necessary.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull objects such as UAS cases and ground-control equipment weighing up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and traverse uneven quarry and stockpile terrain.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain in the field for prolonged periods during flight operations.
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, and push and pull objects.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and operate flight controls.
  • Ability to verbally communicate, hear, and see.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Surveying, GIS, Geography, Aviation, or a related field.
  • Experience operating RTK/PPK-enabled UAS platforms.
  • Experience with drone data processing, photogrammetry, and volumetric analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with the Propeller (Propeller Aero) drone survey and analytics platform.
  • Surveying experience or licensure (SIT/PLS).
  • Experience in aggregates, mining, Ready Mix, or heavy construction.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct UAS flights over aggregate stockpiles and Ready Mix material yards in compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations and site safety requirements.
  • Manually pilot RTK-enabled drones to capture high-accuracy, georeferenced aerial imagery and measurement data.
  • Support evaluation, implementation, and operation of autonomous UAS solutions, including recurring mission scheduling, remote flight monitoring, connectivity, and field hardware.
  • Establish and maintain ground control points and independent checkpoints to validate positional accuracy.
  • Process aerial imagery into orthomosaics, digital surface models, and point clouds to calculate stockpile volumes and support inventory measurement.
  • Apply approved material-density information and established conversion factors to translate volumetric measurements into inventory quantities.
  • Compare UAS measurement results with inventory records, identify potential discrepancies, and work with Operations and Accounting on investigation and resolution.
  • Maintain inventory measurement records and geospatial data in ArcGIS, and produce maps, reports, and dashboards for Operations and Accounting stakeholders.
  • Support the development, documentation, and maintenance of standard operating procedures for flight planning, data capture, processing, and measurement.
  • Prepare and maintain measurement data for inventory, reporting, and connected business systems in accordance with data-quality and integration standards.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and other UAS users to align technology, software, and flight practices while retaining primary responsibility for inventory-related data capture and measurement.
  • Maintain the UAS fleet through inspections, battery and propeller management, sensor calibration, and firmware and software updates.
  • Maintain compliance with FAA regulations, airspace authorizations (LAANC), and waiver requirements, and keep accurate flight logs and required records.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis.
