About The Position

At Alaka'i Technologies, the UAS Engineering Technician works between the design, build, and test stages of hydrogen-powered UAV aircraft systems. The role primarily fabricates avionics and electrical powertrain systems and also supports mechanical assembly of prototype aircraft. The technician participates early in the design process, helping the team iterate throughout the R&D lifecycle in a highly collaborative environment.

Requirements

• Experience with wiring, soldering, crimping, and harness fabrication.
• Familiarity with electrical test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
• Ability to read and work from engineering schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• At least 3 years of electrical or mechanical systems fabrication experience.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
• The company does not provide visa sponsorship.
• Non-U.S. persons must qualify for and be granted U.S. export licenses to access export-controlled technology, commodities, and software.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with composite manufacturing.
• UAS maintenance background.
• A&P License.
• Analog or digital circuit design, software design, and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with PCBs.
• CAD skills.
• Electric propulsion background.
• Fuel cell and high-discharge battery experience.
• Experience with high-voltage DC systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and route wiring harnesses, and perform testing and validation.
• Collaborate with engineers to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and test plans.
• Assemble metallic and composite mechanical assemblies.
• Support ground and flight test preparation.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues during build, integration, and maintenance.
• Improve build processes, tooling, and repeatability over time.
• Maintain accurate build records, test documentation, and configuration logs.
