About The Position
Global News Toronto is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Television Assistant to join the News Production & Control Room team. Reporting to the Broadcast Operations Manager, this role plays a critical part in supporting live and pre-taped broadcasts by ensuring seamless studio operations, technical readiness, and on-air execution. This is a dynamic, hands-on opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, live television environment and is eager to grow their broadcast production expertise. Shifts will include regular early mornings, and may occasionally require afternoons, evenings, late nights, and holidays.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education (or equivalent experience) in a Broadcast related field.
- Strong technical knowledge of broadcast studio needs and equipment.
- Desire to learn and train in other facets of control room production.
- Ability to react quickly and think on your feet.
- Positive attitude.
- Comfortable taking on other responsibilities as they arise.
Nice To Haves
- Previous customer service experience would be an asset.
Responsibilities
- Printing scripts and communicating with control room crew.
- Operating studio Internet Protocol (IP) Camera's.
- Adjusting studio lighting.
- Conducting studio facilities checks for all audio and video equipment.
- Operating the teleprompter.
- Preparing the set for various segments - including greeting and escorting. guests to studio, moving set pieces and setting up guest demonstrations, etc.
- Other duties, as necessary.
