About The Position

This role is integral to the technical execution of live and recorded broadcasts at Global News Toronto. You will support a fast-paced control room environment by operating and maintaining advanced broadcast systems and studio equipment, helping ensure seamless, high-quality delivery of programming and live events. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Broadcast Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Minimum of at least 1 year of experience in a network control room or similar environment.
• Familiarity with newsroom and broadcast systems such as Mosart, ENPS, Open Media, Grass Valley, XPression, and ORAD.
• Strong technical knowledge of switchers, audio and lighting boards, robotic cameras, and graphics systems.
• A proactive, self-starter mindset with a focus on improving workflows and production quality.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, high-tech setting.
• Excellent multitasking skills and adaptability in an evolving media landscape.
• A positive, can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation of MOSART, the automated control room system.
• Operate Maestro and ORAD virtual set control systems.
• Operate Telemetrics robotic cameras in both virtual and live studio environments.
• Perform technical setup and conduct routine checks of robotic cameras, audio boards, lighting, teleprompters, closed captioning, and other studio/control room equipment.
• Conduct quality control checks on all programming airing from servers.
• Coordinate remote live events.
• Work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights, early mornings, and weekends.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
