Tutor for High School Government Course- Special Needs Experience - $50/hr
About The Position
Tutor Doctor is seeking an experienced and professional tutor to provide one-on-one support to a high school senior in South San Francisco for a required government class. The student is visually impaired and utilizes assistive technology, such as her iPhone and Meta smart glasses, for reading and accessing materials. While she is proficient with her tools, she requires a patient tutor who can help her maintain focus, explain concepts clearly, and assist with coursework management and deadlines due to her slower pace. Sessions are conducted weekly, in person, in South San Francisco, with a fixed schedule immediately following school hours: Monday or Wednesday at 2:30/3:00 PM, or Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday at 3:30 PM. Applicants must be able to commit reliably to one of these time slots.
Requirements
- Professional teaching or tutoring experience (not peer or volunteer tutoring).
- Experience working with students with special needs.
- Experience teaching U.S. Government or Civics at the high school level.
- Comfort working alongside assistive technology.
- Reliable availability for one of the specified time slots (Monday or Wednesday at 2:30/3:00 PM, or Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday at 3:30 PM).
- Ability to travel to South San Francisco for in-person sessions.
- Willingness to complete a background check.
