About The Position

Tutors at GPA Rescue provide high-quality one-on-one academic support to University of Alabama students in a professional and encouraging environment. Tutors are responsible for helping students understand course material, strengthen study strategies, and build the confidence needed to succeed independently.

Conducts scheduled one-on-one tutoring sessions in assigned subjects. Explains concepts clearly and adapting teaching methods to each student's learning style. Helps students solve problems and develop critical thinking skills rather than simply providing answers. Arrives prepared and on time for all tutoring sessions. Maintains professional communication with students and the GPA Rescue team. Upholds GPA Rescue's standards for professionalism, reliability, and customer service. Maintains subject matter expertise and staying familiar with the courses being tutored. Participates in required onboarding, training, and occasional team meetings.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled at or recently graduated from The University of Alabama.
• For multi-course sequences (e.g., CH 101/102, MATH 125/126), preference will be given to applicants who earned A-level grades in both the course they wish to tutor and the subsequent course in the sequence.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
• Professional, dependable, and punctual with excellent time management.
• Passion for helping fellow students succeed academically.
• Ability to commit to a minimum of 5 hours per week during the semester.

Nice To Haves

• Previous tutoring, teaching, or mentoring experience.
• Overall GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Ability to tutor high-demand business courses, including OM 300, FI 302, EC 110/111, and AC 210.
• Strong academic performance across multiple STEM and/or business courses.
• Earned an A in each course you wish to tutor.
