Tutor in Russian (Summer 2027 LSR004)
About The Position
The Middlebury College Kathryn Wasserman Davis School of Russian is hiring Russian tutors for summer 2027, from June 16, 2027, through August 13, 2027, on Middlebury’s main campus in Vermont. The School combines a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. Tutors will support teaching, dining, residential, and recreational activities in a community where students pledge to read, write, and speak exclusively in Russian. Tutors will provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring to language learners who need additional academic support, complementing the team of experienced instructors. They will also contribute to the School of Russian’s co-curricular and cultural offerings. This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefits-eligible hourly position for summer 2027 only. The wage is $25.85 per hour. Lodging and a complete meal plan are provided in addition to salary.
Requirements
- Academic background in Russian.
- Experience as a Russian tutor in both group and individual settings.
- Experience with and sensitivity to very diverse groups of learners.
- Enthusiastic, dynamic, and confident approach as a tutor-teacher, with a true commitment to student learning and teamwork.
- Native or near-native proficiency in spoken and written Russian.
