Instructor of Russian (Summer 2027 LSR002)
About The Position
The Kathryn Wasserman Davis School of Russian is hiring temporary Instructors of Russian for its summer 2027 session at Middlebury College in Vermont, from June 16, 2027, through August 13, 2027. The program combines cultural immersion with rigorous daily classroom instruction. Instructors join a community of learners and actively engage in teaching, dining, and residing with students while reading, writing, and speaking exclusively in Russian. Openings may be available at all levels of language instruction. Compensation is determined individually in discussion with the Language School director. Review of applications begins in November 2026; only complete applications will be considered. Selected candidates will be invited to interviews on Zoom. Lodging and a complete meal plan are provided in addition to salary.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.A. in a related field.
- Russian proficiency at the Advanced High level or higher.
- Significant Russian language teaching experience at various levels.
- Ability to live and work in an intensive environment surrounded by students and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Provide four hours of classroom instruction.
- Participate in pre- and post-session assessment testing.
- Participate in cultural programming.
- Teach, dine, and reside with students in an intensive Russian-language immersion environment, using Russian exclusively.
