About The Position

The Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) School Based Tutor is responsible for supporting On-Site Advisors with after-school tutoring one to two days per week at their assigned school. The tutor will work with participants in LPP in specific areas of study, assist with completing assignments, and help students grasp difficult concepts. The role requires the ability to comprehend and explain educational materials, assist with student learning, and possess classroom management skills for positive interaction with secondary school students. The tutor will be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of participants, bringing a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor students pursuing high school completion or advancement to the next grade level. This is a temporary part-time position.

Requirements

• Earned a bachelor's degree or higher in education from a regionally accredited institution.
• Secondary teaching certification required.
• Experience in the Rochester City School District secondary schools.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning environment.

Nice To Haves

• Earned a master's degree in education from a regionally accredited higher education institution.
• Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish or other languages proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with creating interactive learning experiences for students tackling difficult topics.
• Assist the On-Site Advisor in supervising the classroom.
