This role is generally responsible for planning and scheduling heavy industrial engineering projects, monitoring project costs, and/or estimating projects. The work will be performed under minimal supervision. The primary responsibilities include developing schedules and analysis for contract packages to forecast construction activities and identify coordination issues where safety and schedule can potentially be in conflict. The role involves developing, monitoring, and updating schedules by obtaining updates through meetings, construction coordination interviews, and field verification. A complete understanding of Earned Value and Project Productivity is required. The position also involves monitoring and maintaining the change notice/change order management system, assisting in facilitating weekly change notice hearings and change committee meetings, and establishing a progressive system for projects. Additionally, the role assists clients and teammates in developing construction and contract strategies for constructability of projects as it pertains to logistics and safety. The planner prepares plans & documentation covering known & SCR requests to enable area work to be completed in the most cost-effective manner, and prepares job plans for all work in assigned areas using materials request and contractor instructions. Relevant documentation such as drawings, photos, test procedures, and cleaning procedures are attached to the plan. The planner validates job plans as part of the validation team, prepares workbooks for all supervisors in the assigned area with copies of all necessary paperwork, and works with foremen to assist work familiarization. Collaboration with the Scheduler is key to develop a framework for the turnaround schedule. The planner attends daily SCR meetings to understand new work for their area, ensures SCR work is planned and passed to the scheduler, and monitors SCR material availability to allow management of SCR work. The role involves working with foremen to identify changes needed on regular job plans and making those changes for future re-use. The planner ensures seamless handoff of work from trades to QA/QC and then to Operations, reviews work being performed in the plant in accordance with job plans in conjunction with the foreman, and ensures all job packs are properly closed out.
