Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or Journeyperson trade designation in a maintenance field or Journeyperson trade designation in a maintenance field (Related work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.)
  • 5+ years in progressively planning role within a heavy industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance, repair, and inspection processes within an industrial or terminal environment.
  • Proficiency in planning and scheduling software and tools such as SAP, Maximo, or Primavera P6.
  • In-depth understanding of turnaround best practices and mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, piping, and rotating equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in developing mechanical work scopes and schedules.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and mechanical integrity regulations applicable to turnaround events.

Nice To Haves

  • 5-10 years of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive plans for all mechanical work during turnarounds, including job scopes, material requirements, labor needs, and equipment specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Turnaround Superintendent to define the scope of mechanical tasks, establish priorities, and develop detailed execution schedules.
  • Ensure proper sequencing of mechanical work activities to minimize downtime and support safe, efficient turnaround execution.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of materials, spare parts, and equipment needed for mechanical tasks.
  • Develop detailed timelines using project management tools and integrate mechanical tasks into the overall turnaround schedule.
  • Work closely with contractors and third-party vendors, ensuring alignment with the mechanical turnaround schedule and work scope.
  • Ensure all mechanical work complies with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, integrating risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all mechanical turnaround activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ensure proper documentation of completed work.
  • Monitor the progress of mechanical work, making adjustments to the schedule as necessary to account for delays or emerging issues.
  • Provide regular updates to the Superintendent, Planning - Turnaround on the status of mechanical tasks, including potential risks, costs, and completion rates.
  • Participate in post-turnaround debriefs to assess the effectiveness of mechanical work execution and identify areas for improvement in future turnarounds.
